Be a volunteer!
Do you have some free time and want to put it to good use? Do you want to do good and help others? Do you want to help shape your neighborhood, support the local club, or get involved with a nonprofit organization? Or do you simply want to see if volunteer work with a social focus is right for you?
The reasons for volunteering are very personal. The possible areas of involvement are just as varied.
We’d be happy to help you find a suitable opportunity where you can use your skills and that aligns with your interests.
Finding the right volunteer opportunity is easy.
Option 1: Stop by in person, and we’ll advise you on various volunteer opportunities at the Volunteer Agency. We recommend making an appointment with us beforehand.
Option 2: Please fill out our online form. This will register you in our database, and we’ll get in touch with you. Our online form in German only. But we have an English offline version.

It can be difficult to find volunteer work if you have little or no knowledge of German. We’ll do our best to find a good opportunity for you.
Our database is German only, so here are a few ideas for volunteer work that require little or no knowledge of German:
- Help out in the garden
- Help out at events (e.g., baking waffles or making coffee)
- Lead a sports activity (e.g., a dance class)
- Check out books at the library
- Sell cake at a café
- Create posts for Instagram
- Lead a creative activity (e.g., crocheting, knitting, painting)
- Organize activities for the migrant community in Cottbus (e.g., field trips, workshops)
- Participate in Sprechcafés
- Help children with their homework
